SYNOPSIS:
Joseph Meyers, a newly divorced man, decides to chuck his business life and go off to the mountains to become a writer. Once there, he finds he has writer’s block and decides to take a walk in the woods. During his walk, he meets a woman named Sarah and they chat. When he tells her he has writer’s block, she tells him she has a story and that he should write about a man who meets the ghost of a murdered woman and has to solve her unsolved murder. When Joseph goes into town, he asks about the woman, only to be told they don’t know of anyone like that in the area. When he asks about unsolved murders he is told that a teacher named Sarah Browne was killed around the end of WWII. He begins to look into her murder, and finds a photo of the murdered woman, which matches the woman he met in the forest. The events of the murdered woman’s life are told through flashbacks as Joseph learns more about her, while he continues to meet the woman in the forest, and begins falling in love with her. Joseph meets some of the suspects in the case, along with meeting some of the teacher’s former students. When he returns to his cabin one evening, he finds someone had been there earlier, and takes extra pains to secure the doors and windows. During the night, someone tries and fails to break in. The next morning, Joseph talks to his mystery woman, and together they unmask the murderer.
