TICKET 2 RIDE
By Ken White

GENRE: Thriller / Suspense
LOGLINE:

Determined to get his fifteen minutes of fame the hard way, a teenage loser decides to go out in a blaze of glory by killing filmmaker George Lucas, who is visiting his home town for the annual ritual of cruising known as “Graffiti Night.” A disillusioned local boy turned PI tries to stop the assassination.

SYNOPSIS:

Milner and Falfa. They grew up together. The kid brothers of the two hot rodders who raced into the sunset on Paradise Road back in '62. When they were still in high school, Milner got Falfa's little sister, Joanna, pregnant. She gave up the baby boy and Milner never knew him. Now, Milner and Falfa are in bed together, doing a business deal.

"Modesto Remembered" will be a theme park dedicated to preserving another era – when Ike was president, cruising was king, and life was a whole lot simpler. All they need to complete the final phase of construction is the benediction (and a little cash infusion) from the home-grown boy who made Motown and cruising famous – Mr. George Lucas.

Lucas agrees to take a meeting. He'll be in town one day for "Graffiti Night" – Modesto's annual sprinkling of "Lucas Dust."

Milner should be really pumped up about what could be the most important (and fateful) day of his life. But, his paranoia's kicking in. He wants Falfa—Special Forces in Vietnam then, Private Eye now—to watch his back because he's afraid someone's out to get him. He has good reason to be worried. The word on the street is that a punk named Noah Dove is talking big about getting his fifteen minutes of Andy Warhol fame by assassinating Lucas. Milner is freaked because he's afraid he might get caught in the crossfire.

While tracking his target, Dove encounters, and is seduced by, Joanna. When she realizes who he is, she hangs herself.

Falfa and his shotgun-riding, wing-man Kid Guitar—a brain-fried old friend from high school—track Dove through town as he moves down the Graffiti route headed for Car City, Milner's business and, eventually, the theme park at the edge of town.

Facing each other under a blood red moon in the dusty main street of "Modesto Remembered," Falfa unravels the kind of ancient story that only happens in Greek tragedies. Dove learns that Joanna is his mother and Milner is his father. It's an Oedipus car wreck. The truth is more than Dove can live with. The last man standing, Falfa realizes that truth has few friends. And those few are suicides.

Tag Line: Each morning, you have to wake up a virgin.
