About Yannick

Yannick Mourcia, a Dutch-Spanish photographer and filmmaker born in France.

Passionate about the seventh art since his childhood, his vocation took off notably through the films of David Cronenberg which gave him a taste for cinematographic tale and through the work of Stanley Kubrick in terms of technique.

In addition, filmmakers like Alejandro Jodorowsky, Tod Solondz and Lars von Trier have given him an in-depth look at what affects emotions through the manipulation of the viewer. By collaborating on projects in other fields, Yannick Mourcia has developed skills such as manager, making-of director, etc.

In 2009, he set up his first production structure with Serge Paulmier, where he played the Joker in their interpretation of Batman. He then directed Reversible, his first independent short film which allowed him to gain a foothold in cinema.

He later turned more specifically to casting direction. He thus had the chance to work in this title on an ambitious film directed by Adam Jodorowsky, the son of Alejandro Jodorowsky, who is one of his favorite directors (“The Holy Mountain” is one of his films bedside). In 2015, he directed his second short film, Instant Zéro, which won several awards, including best screenplay at the Hollywood Film Festival. In addition, he has access to an important experience on site thanks to his registration in the official catalog of short films of the Cannes Film Festival.
