Michel DeMars, melody maker and sound producer, direct descendent of the Pied Piper, took an oath to create all in his power to prevent that which we hold so dear to our ears from ever slipping into
endangered species territory.
Accomplished singer-composer-songwriter-producer, this artist originates from the valley where the shadow of lumberjacks still looms and watches over the well being of its offspring’s precious lifelines.
His teen years, leading a rock group, allowed him to share the stage with, among others, the Payolas and Parachute Club on different occasions, then, Grand Master Flash, at the Spectrum in Montréal.
This fierce desire of creativity had him preferring and opting for the home studio over stardom. The limitless possibilities involving soul searching, soundscape exploration, innovative techniques and harmonious assembly led to putting together some inspirational soundtracks for TV series, films, multimedia projects and more .
DeMars’ multiple projects brought him to collaborate with a fine assortment of international artists such as Carine Karkour (Cirque du Soleil), the Chengdu Zhanqi Acrobatic Troupe of China and many filmmakers from New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montréal and the U.K. To name only a few projects to his credit, there is the documentary series entitled “La croisée des chemins”, the Winterlude Inaugural Ceremony and the official album of the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival. At the NCC’s explicit request, DeMars was commissioned to compose and arrange 12 original pieces based on
evolutionary themes reflecting 20th century highlights and played on the eve of the new millennium. He was appointed musical director overseeing this unique presentation which took place on Canada's Parliamentary Hill in front of a crowd of over 50,000 attentive spectators.
