About Ashraf

Ashraf Adel Aziz was born on May 06, 1957, in Cairo, Egypt to Egyptian parents Irene Sobhi Tadros and Adel Aziz Ghali. He was raised in the neighborhood of Heliopolis, Cairo and graduated there from St. George English school. During high school, he began making short family movies with his Super-8 sound camera. Kodak Egypt used at this time to process super 8 films in Europe, and was taking almost three months to deliver the film reels back, something which proved Aziz’s patience and enthusiasm for filmmaking and has inspired him. After high school, he entered the Egyptian Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration in Zamalek and earned his bachelor degree and graduated in 1979. He met his beloved wife Nevine Boutros and they got married in May 1993. In 2011, he joined a film directing course in Studio Galal (Owned by a well known Egyptian director - Raafat El-Mihi)
Aziz worked for several multinational companies in Egypt, and few years ago, he took early retirement from work as a CFO (Chief Financial Officer) to start his independent filmmaking career. On a steep learning curve to catch up with the digital revolution, he learned many Adobe film editing applications. His dream is to break free from the production monopoly in Egypt and make successful documentaries independently.
