Actress/Writer Toni Fields was professionally trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After returning home from school her love and concern for children led her to the Attic Theatre's Outreach and Education Program. The outreach ensemble toured Michigan's schools bringing life to everyday studies. Among other things, Toni was the Storyteller of the ensemble. In addition, she performed for Grace Hospital's Child Protection Program. This ensemble visited Detroit elementary schools performing an interactive show titled Little Bear. The show taught children how to handle and cope with molestation. Toni looks to continue with projects such as these.
She went on to further her training at the Detroit Repertory Theatre. Since 1990 this talented actress has toured nationally with gospel plays such as Perilous Times by T.J. Hemphill and Who Can You Trust by Michael Matthews. She's shared the stage with Vicki Winans, Ralph Tresvant, Melba Moore and a host of other great artist. Toni has also written, performed and produced two One Woman Shows and has been in commercials for companies such as D.O.C eyewear. Her strong, expressive speaking voice led her to MC at the African World Festival held at Detroit Michigan's Hart Plaza. To further her career she attended Voice Over classes at Del Mar Studios in Irvine, California, in hopes of doing animated character voice.
On the flip side of her career Toni worked as a talent/model instructor for Barbizon of Michigan and Southern California as well as for The Models Workshop in Ferndale, Michigan. Her heart also lead her to spend some time as a mentor for the California based mentor program Write Girl. It's a program focused on giving girls a voice by way of their pen.
In previous years Toni was involved in an Atlanta, Georgia based project for children. Toni collaborated on this project with several artists from across the country, including Professor Griff form the group Public Enemy. The awesome project was titled Kid Hoppaz it is "edutainment/infotainment" for children. Toni was a writer and Story Teller of the project. She also portrays and co-created the project's Storyteller/teacher character Ireada Fable. The project is currently on hold. Presently, she is focusing on writing song lyrics, working along with charismatic, Mr. Sensitivity himself, Ralph Tresvant of New Edition.
Finally, Toni also had the honor of taking part in Hellbent For Hollywood, a California based acting competition. Two thousand people auditioned for the competition. Of those two thousand, two hundred were selected. Toni was proud to have made it to the final top five. She was the only African American actor/actress to make it thus far.
