My name is Tom Hodge, aka The Dude Designs cult poster artist extraordinaire.
I am an independent art director, designer and illustrator for film key art.
I am responsible for such designs as Hobo with a shotgun, Ti West's The Innkeepers and Fathers Day! among many others i have also created key art for such video releases as Super, Modus Operandi and many Arrow Video titles like Savage Streets, The Exterminator, King of New York, Jaguar Lives and Vamp.
I have worked with clients like Magnolia Pictures, Glass Eye Pix, Troma, MPI Media, Kino, Koch Media, Arrow Video as well as working directly with directors and producers on Studio or independent features.
My aim with the work is to bring back the lost magic of the Film poster (and video cover art).
To design, paint or illustrate iconic images which have visual impact and perfectly capture the style/excitement of the films they sell. I have 10 years commercial experience in design, games and home entertainment industry. So have gained a practical working knowledge of how to visually market and sell a title which isn't just based around producing a pretty image.
Through the web there's now a lot of scope for building interest in a title through producing interesting and exciting key art. which will promote your film by raising above the white noise of standard bland designs. They create buzz and get sites to report about a film which then flows into other channels such as forums, blogs and news letters, all without paying for any add space, you just need to provide that with an iconic image.
