Jessica Arena is a film Actress/Director from Northern New Jersey and founded her own production company, J.A. Cinema, in 2019.

Shortly before opening her own company, Jessica additionally worked in the film industry as Art Director on location in Montana 2017-2018 for the feature film Useless, which she also had a small role in. Released on Amazon Prime in August 2020, Useless is the story of a young girl pursuing barrel racing, following the loss of her mother. After production, Arena joined as Art Director on Justin Ross’ latest short “If You Ever Hurt My Daughter, I Swear to God I’ll Let Her Navigate Her Own Emotional Growth” (2020), voiced by Jon Hamm and produced for The New Yorker. Through J.A. Cinema, Jessica’s film, “Carl Arena: Portrait of a Drummer,” won The Costello Award at the 2020 Passaic County Film Festival. She also personally enjoys photography and one of her photographs was published in Whalebone Magazine’s 2020 Photo Issue.

Jessica graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2011 with her Bachelor's of Communication Arts: Media and Cinema Studies. She had an internship with Stephen David Entertainment in NYC during her senior year. After graduation, she worked as Associate Producer with Starline Films in 2012.

From 2013 to 2015 Arena spent time acting in numerous independent shorts, as well as building her skills behind the camera; both on set with established production companies, and creating her own shorts. She also developed many camera and editing skills from working with her church, Emergence, in Totowa, NJ, recording sermons or creating trailers.

In 2016, Arena worked as the Assistant Studio Manager at 18 Label Studios in Montclair, NJ; operating in conjunction with The Food Network, BSTV Entertainment, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and other such clients. That same year, she also directed and edited music videos for artist Dan Folgado and band, worked with BNO: A Creative Agency on a virtual broadcast project for Johnson & Johnson, and with Outreach FX filming for Ashley Furniture. In October, Jessica worked with production company Over The Edge (OTE), filming the short "According to Plan" on location at the Oculus and One World Trade Center. By 2017, Arena teamed up with OTE again, filming for wine company Ecco Domani and fashion designer Christian Siriano.

During these years (2016-2017), Arena was simultaneously working on her own documentary about a school bus conversion into a tiny home and the road trip it went on across America after its completion. Jessica, herself, is well-traveled and loves it. She has been to Ireland, Italy, and on various road trips all over the United States and into Canada.
