Shaista Justin
Sales agent/ development producer

Hey Everyone!

I’m currently a sales agent for NTD Networks but am usually a development producer :)

I thought it would be a good idea to connect with acquisitions colleagues here and anyone else passionate about the industry.

Stage32 came highly recommended as a way to expand my network.

Happy to connect! SJ

Memory

For many of my first 10 years or so, back in the "Gigastudio days" :)  The samplers and instrument samples were relatively small and did not pose a heavy demand on memory.  Even then there were larger samplers and sample sets such as Vienna Symphonic (VSL) that said they would easily fit in 16 GB of...

Writing my first script.

I recently downloaded a trial copy of FINAL DRAFT 12 to use for 30 days to see if I like it. How to Write Sci-Fi Scripts

Hello from Sacramento, CA, USA

It has been months since my first post here. I am glad to say that I will be wrapping up my first draft by this weekend. But still, I always hear professionals talking about rewrites. Sadly, I am not in the mood to tamper or make changes to my first draft anytime soon.

It definitely won't be right first time. In all forms of art (as mentioned in an earlier reply), you need to step back. Wait long enough to "fall out of love" with your idea. Then set about reading it again looking for errors. Use Final draft if you have it to assist in this. Best of luck!

Coverfly Submission "Comment For Reader"

Hi,

I am submitting to various competitions through coverfly. It is my first time using this service. I wondered if anyone uses the optional "Comment For Reader" field? If so what helpful aspects of a script do you typically mention? Thanks.

I think that would be fine to put when you submit to a producer, Steve Scifi. It might help you and your project stand out.

There is nothing like hitting that 90 page mark and knowing you're just about finished. I've got about 7-10 scenes left and am so excited to start getting feedback on screenplay #5! But I know I have to take my time and lay it all out real nice. haha What are your favorite ways to keep from rushing the ending?

One idea is not to write the end last. I don't know if this helps but I write high level ideas first, flesh them out a bit, dwell on it (sometimes for ages), add in specific dialogue, back off, look a...

When I get to page 70 I know all I need to do is go back and revise the dialogue. I move things around if needed but just make the scenes better is where I start. I end up with about 100 -106 pages give or take.

The importance of having a Writing Process

I strongly believe that creative should outline their story. That is, that you have the whole plot worked out and written down in a brief headline type of form.

Having an outline not only forces a writer to work out the whole story, especially the climax!, but it is also an invaluable guide and promp...

I don't know how people cope without an outline. I have the greatest respect for those that can write successfully without one. I come from a computer programming / system design background, so I need to see things laid out in front of me to know what I'm aiming for.
