P h i l i p p e C o r d e y  is an eclectic and multi-talented Cinematographer, Photographer and Director.
As a Cinematographer, he photographed numerous european award winning Feature films, Documentaries, Commercials and Imagefilms over some 20 years.
His Feature Films projects are Thomas Tanner's "Blue Mountain" (AFI Int'l Competition 1996), Markus Fischer's "One Bullet Left"  (Rose d'Or 2004) and Jan Keymeulen's "Lisa" (Filmfest Brussels, 2003) among many others Feature Films directed by Thomas Freundner ("Totenmesse", "Trübe Wasser"), Andy Bausch ("Deep Frozen"), Markus Fischer ("Zucker für die Bestie", "Todesengel"), Axel de Roche ("La Dolce Rita"), Klemens Klopfenstein ("Alptraum") and Christof Schertenleib ("Chaos").
Philippe Cordey  is one of Switzerland's leading DP's, when it comes to Documentary Film Shooting under extreme circumstances.
His strong social engagement had him working on Documentary Film projects addressing very sensitive social issues:  The Understanding of Death ("Früher oder Später"), The Rromani Music World ("Le Chant des Rroms"), The African traditional History Transmission ("La Parole, elle vit"), Salt Caravanes in Sahel ("Abenteuer Glück"), Magic and Local Beliefs ("Magie in Emmental"),  Illetrism in Switzerland ("Boggsen"), and Aids Prevention in Sahel ("En attendant la pluie") and a filmed portrait of one of Peking Opera's most famous Stage Actor in "BAO, the Judge" for the Museum der Kulturen, Basel.
His most recent projects dealt with crucial social issues such as the Fight against Poverty in "Beyond a Dollar a Day"  directed by Mark Galloway, and Hunger & Food Crisis in "Hunger in a World of Plenty" by Christian Neu (theatrical release).
His Cinema Direct Style Documentary awarded Films are "Früher oder Später" (Los Angeles IDA Award Nominee 2003), "Abenteuer Glück, Mali" (Grimme Preis 2006).
Director
As Director/DP, Philippe Cordey is currently authoring and producing the oncoming Webdoc Crossmedia Project for a small swiss charity in Niger:  AU COEUR DU NIGER
Photograper
In parallel to his Film Shootings assignments around the Globe, Philippe Cordey is pursuing a personal long-established photographic body of work, using Large Format Zoneplate Camera Obscura as a true Documentary Tool, resulting in original stand-alone pictures and a collective exhibition at the 47. Filmtage, Solothurn 2012.
