About Claudia

Choreographer Claudia Schreier has created an array of critically acclaimed neoclassical and contemporary ballets. Born in New York, Ms. Schreier has been commissioned by companies, festivals and schools including the Breaking Glass Project, Intermezzo Dance Company, Ballet Academy East, Columbia Ballet Collaborative, Harvard Ballet Company, Academy of Music Arts, José Mateo Ballet Theatre/Dance for World Community, and her work has been performed at venues including the Ailey Citigroup Theater, the 92nd St Y, the Miller Theatre, MMAC, Vassar College, and the ART Loeb Drama Center Mainstage. Most recently, she choreographed a short ballet for Warby Parker's Half-Decade Parade ad campaign.

Her ballets Anomie and Elysium were chosen to represent Harvard University for adjudication and were selected for the Gala Performances at the American College Dance Festival in 2008 and 2010. Elysium was also selected for presentation at Ivies @ Cunningham in New York in 2008. She has worked with dancers currently or formerly with New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Los Angeles Ballet, Ballet Austin, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, Complexions, and Ailey II.

In 2014, Intermezzo Dance Company performed both the world premiere of Requiem Adagio and Harmonic at Vassar. Intermezzo also performed Harmonic at the 92nd St Y in conjunction with Edward Henkel's MovementTalks series.

Ms. Schreier was recently selected as the winner of the Breaking Glass Project 2014, for which she was awarded a full evening-length performance to be presented at the Ailey Citigroup Theater in August 2015. The evening will feature performances by dancers from the New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre and collaborations with composers and live musicians, including Emmy Award-winning composer Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Monk, Pollock) and NYC-based chamber choir Tapestry.

A Harvard graduate and John Harvard Scholar with a B.A. in Sociology and Secondary Degree in Dramatic Arts, Ms. Schreier is a recipient of the Suzanne Farrell Dance Prize in recognition for Outstanding Artistry in the Field of Dance.
