About Evan

I've grown up here in Cincinnati, OH for most of my life. Along with growing up came my passion for storytelling. Regardless of whether it was me sneaking around with my parents Hi-8 Camcorder and filming different things, getting my first digital camera when I was in third grade, giving a go at writing and directing my first script when I was in seventh grade, and now actively working in the local film community. I've been extremely blessed to have calumniated such an amazing collective experience between working on feature films (Miles Ahead, Josephine Doe, Goat, etc) to working and growing with many local independent filmmakers on short films and documentaries.

Moving up the chain from Production Assistant gigs to having to wrote and directed my own indie film with an actual budget, I've come from a background of education by simply doing. I feel as though I'm learning more being waist deep in the trenches, as compared to having my nose in a book of theory in a film class somewhere. Having grown up with a greater sense of self-awareness and longing to learn more about the people around me, I feel this how I've been engrained with passion on telling stories. No matter a retelling of my own experiences or a collective of others', it is this idea that gives me ambition to bring to life what I write on paper.

In my films, I long to universes that for the duration of its time on screen allows audiences to simply slip from consciousness. Experimenting with a variety of emotion, rising actions and falling actions, and consequences, it concentrates on a level of reality that people will be thinking about my films long after viewing.

After making my official directorial debut with film "Are You There Eli?" and finding generous critical acclaim, I am now pursuing a new story titled "Dialtone" and another called "Crawl". With hopes to adapt to feature length, we hope to strive for quality over quantity. I'd rather die with 10 great films than 50-forgettable movies.

More to come
