have spent 30 years working in the Australian Film Industry; twenty as a technician (Grip) and the last ten as a Safety Consultant/Supervisor. As both a film technician and OH&S consultant I have managed a wide and complex range of workplace safety issues. My extensive practical experience has been informed by formal training in OHS, rigging, scaffolding, traffic management, crowd control, electrical spotting, first aid and other certificated areas of work.

1991 - 2001 KEY GRIP
ANT GRIP SERVICES (OWNER / DIRECTOR)
During this period I provided Grip services to leading Australian and International production companies. Commercials worked on include Coca Cola, Pepsi, Ericssons, Dupont, Hyundai, Daewoo, Mitsubishi, Holden and Ford. Grip services were supplied to many leading Australian companies including Myer, Sportsgirl, Just Jeans, Telstra, Email, Vic Tourism, Transport Accident Commission, National Australia Bank, Bendigo Bank, Westfield Shopping Centres among many others.
Music video production included work for many leading Australian music artists.

1985-1991 ASSISTANT GRIP – (FREELANCE)
TRACKING VEHICLE OPERATOR (OWNER / OPERATOR)
During this period I regularly worked assisting a variety of key grips in Melbourne. I also owned and operated a tracking vehicle for four years working on commercials for; Holden Barina, Nissan Pulsar, Transport Accident Commission ‘Booze Bus’, Holden Rodeos and Jackaroos.
Working as a tracking vehicle driver gave me an added perspective on the responsibilities and safety issues relevant to this area. Combining my grip and driver roles enabled me to design and create safe and effective camera rigs.
1982-1985 IN HOUSE GRIP/STUDIO MANAGER
VTC - VIDEO TAPE CORPORATION
My responsibilities included set construction, lighting and general grip work. During this period I worked on many music videos for leading Australian artists. I also worked for television in the production of ‘Nightmoves’ and ‘Rocket’ and many television commercials.
PRE FILM INDUSTRY Prior to my involvement in the film industry I held a number of positions where I was required to be responsible for the safety and comfort of people in my care.
As a Launch Master at both Lizard and Bedarra Islands I conducted marine tours and was involved in the ferrying of guests around the islands and the mainland. On Lizard Island I was also responsible for aircraft freight and baggage handling.
I was employed as a Professional Diver and Coxswain in the fledgling sea urchin export industry.
My early employment was as a Trades Assistant in the marine engineering and building industries.
