With the help of a marriage revivalist, three romance-starved wives get their golf-obsessed husbands to chase them instead of the little white ball with a scavenger hunt for missing wives designed to expose spousal shortcomings.
SYNOPSIS:
Exactly how do romance-starved wives get their golf-obsessed husbands to give up the links and chase
them? Self-proclaimed marriage revivalist Tammie Wilson recommends a scavenger hunt designed to
expose spousal shortcomings to awaken romance.
Tammie receives a monthly paycheck from self-made, multi-millionaire Walter Brewster for being on
standby as his “rent-a-wife” actress. Walter hires Tammie to stand in for his repressed, recluse wife
Michaela when he needs to look good in his public business affairs. While Walter is considered adept in
the boardroom, he is positively incompetent when it comes to his people skills. As Walter’s rent-a-wife,
Tammie becomes a regular at Beckley Hall Country Club where Walter hopes to continue his reign as club
champion.
However, while standing in for Mrs. Michaela Brewster, Tammie becomes friends with romance-starved
golf widows, Arlene and Sue Ellen, who are married to Walter golfing buddies, Richard and Tom. The golf
widows are fed up with being assigned the ongoing task of keeping track of their side bets—Bingo, Bango,
Bongos, Arnies, Froggies, and so on. Richard and Tom have been looking forward to taking the coveted
trophy from their socially awkward and disturbingly cheap golfing buddy, Walter.
When Arlene and Sue Ellen learn about the fun-deprived real Michaela, they decide to find and liberate
her. Tammie convinces Arlene and Sue Ellen that nothing could be more effective or fun than forcing their
dimpleheads to participate in a scavenger hunt designed to expose spousal shortcomings. In reality, the
scavenger hunt for missing wives and Walter’s millions is a mischievous ploy invented to resuscitating
marital passions. However, instead of things heating up, the hunt turns deadly when disgruntled golf pro,
Handsome Dave, decides to up the stakes and settle a long-standing score with his least favorite client,
tightwad, Walter Brewster.
Handsome Dave kidnaps Michaela in order teach Walter a lesson. Walter faces the challenge of his life
when he can’t pay Handsome Dave’s ten million dollar ransom because his bank accounts have been
drained by the golf widows in their own version of a side bet—losers learn a lesson, winners take all. Find
us, find Walter’s money. However, while being held captive in a deserted beachfront shack, Michaela
starts to wonder which man she'd rather be with—her unenlightened husband, or her handsome
kidnapper.
Can Walter come to the rescue and save the only woman who has ever loved him? When he realizes
Michaela and the people who put up with him are the God-given treasures he’s been mistreating, he
becomes the romantic knight in shining armor Michaela has always dreamt about. Meanwhile, Handsome
Dave gets off scot-free because the Brewsters realize the good-looking, misguided kidnapper has
instigated a romantic rescue that saved their dying marriage.
