SYNOPSIS:
Clyde Ennis is a big girl with a big attitude. She drives cab and hustles pool to make ends meet. She’s also the guardian of her Down Syndrome brother, Tommy. One day Tommy sets the kitchen on fire, accidentally while watching a reality TV cooking show. This results in the super threatening to call the authorities if they don’t move immediately. While commiserating with her ne’er do well friend, Nicky No-Future, she sees fellow pool shark and compulsive gambler, Donny the Lemon on TV.He’s won it big at the track—450 large! If they can get to Donny first they’ll have a shot at fleecing him of a good portion of his winnings. But they’re not the only ones: local bookie, Harry the Boof and his cronies see Donny too. As does Donny’s ball-busting wife, Roz. Where do they think he’ll go? Vegas! But, there’s a snowstorm and all the planes are downed. Next best bet? Donny’s favourite casino in Niagara Falls. And so ensues a madcap race to squeeze the Lemon. Throw in a couple of Mexican midget wrestlers and their Jamaican body guard after Nicky for a Viagara deal gone bad and things get really crazy. Ultimately, Clyde is the first to come up against Donny in a pool game. She wins and then goes double-or-nothing…and loses everything. Dejectedly, she wanders out into the casino, looking for Tommy and Nicky. There’s a commotion, punctuated by cheers. A crowd has gathered. Clyde weaves her way through, discovering Tommy battling a video machine. With each level he conquers, the crowd lets up a cheer. Tommy’s in the zone. He defeats the machine and the room goes crazy! He’s won a vintage Maserati! The wrap up: Clyde, Nicky and Tommy drive to Texas, where they sell the Maserati and use the cash to open a successful BBQ Billiard joint. Harry opens his dream business in Niagara Falls: a used-car lot/wedding chapel. The Mexican midgets get deported back to Mexico after a brawl in the casino, find God and become talk radio hosts. Roz uses Donny’s winnings to open an online gambling site. And Donny…well, Donny never changes. He uses his allowance from Roz to buy a whole whack of lottery tickets, fully expecting to become a millionaire.
