Filmmaker Simbi Hall graduated with honors from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a double major from the Institute of Film & Television and the Dramatic Writing Program.
Ms. Hall is a recent alumna of AFI’s prestigious “Directing Workshop for Women,” “The Guy Hanks & Marvin Miller Screenwriting Fellowship” at USC and studied acting at Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof’s HB Studio in New York City.
Simbi Hall has worked on a number of documentary and multi- camera live shows for all the major networks as well as MTV, VH1, and BET and served as a segment producer for the official Academy Awards red-carpet telecast. Hall was also hired by Das Films to re- write and direct the feature project THE RED THREAD, a romantic- drama set in Shanghai.
Ms. Hall’s short film LONG STORY SHORT was completed while in the "Directing Workshop for Women," and has screened at many film festivals including AFI Fest, The Aspen Comedy Festival, the Boston and Chicago International Film Festivals, SXSW (South by Southwest), UrbanWorld and The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas. Ms. Hall was also honored by the Los Angeles County Museum as part of their “Young Directors Night.”
Simbi Hall’s feature script THE ONE, a romantic comedy about a woman who falls in love with herself, was honored at the Aspen Comedy Fest as Best Comedy Feature.
