About Marrisa
I began performing as a pre-teen and spent those early years on stage in musical theater productions and dance concerts all over the Central Coast of California. I attended Allan Hancock College and Santa Barbara City College, where I studied not only multiple styles of dance, but theater arts, acting and voice. In 1990, I graduated from Allan Hancock with an Associate of Arts degree in Dance.
From 1990-Present, I have worked in the fields of musical theater, stage, and drama as a professional actor/director, dancer/choreographer, musical theater performer, dance and drama instructor, and production assistant. I have taught and worked at performing arts studios within California, Tennessee, Hawaii, Idaho, Connecticut, and Washington State. I have also worked as a professional talent adjudicator for national competitions, most notably with the Showbiz National Talent Competition in Kansas City, MO and the Dance Masters of America Student Scholarship Competition in Santa Clara, CA. My work has taken me all over the United States and includes many dance and theater companies and entertainment organizations.
Since 2005, I have moved into the areas of film and video, in addition to dance and theater, to broaden my experience and expertise in the entertainment industry. I have worked both in front of the camera and behind the scenes for various production companies around the United States.
I continue to work as a performing arts instructor, and I am always available for work as an actor, dancer, and choreographer for film, video, and stage projects. As an actor, I enjoy performing comedic and character roles, as I love to make people laugh as much as I love to laugh myself. As a dancer and choreographer, my specialties are jazz, tap, and musical theater dance.
