Wonderful idea Michael! This particular group is aimed at having a small online group of 8-10 individuals who consistently read and provide feedback during the writing process. I live in an area where it's been a struggle to find one screenwriter to meet face-to-face with, let alone 8 or 9 more. I think this type of group will help ready our work for the next stage...gasp...hearing actors read it in front of you. Makes me shiver...both with excitement and fear, lol. This is all new to me, but this has been one of the most amazing and helpful communities that I've ever encountered.

Cheri, go to Meetup and look for screenwriters rorups. There will definitely be some options in your area. If not, you can start one that way and reach a lot of people.

The best help is your subconscious mind .pl say positive suggestions.

John Witham- Thanks John! The synopsis doesn't begin to give all the details of the crazy story and it based on true events. That whole Bicentennial Summer was one coast to coast blowout party... I'm still recovering LOL... Monica Chavez- The story starts in eastern Pennsylvania and travels cross country through the desert southwest and into Los Angeles. Right now we are planning to shoot as many scenes as we can in the Cleveland Ohio area, then we'll hit the road to do the west of the Mississippi scenes. No we don't have a script supervisor yet. Ken Pond- It is a bit early for us to crew up, but I'd like to know more about you. Please feel free to message me. Would like to know what equipment you have, cam etc.

I'll follow your progress. I'm in Santa Fe. If you need any high-desert b-roll, or anything, let me know. I'm shooting with a 5DMk3, with Rokkinon and Canon glass... plus various rig bits to make it more usable. With Magic Lantern it can now output 14-bit RAW - good dynamic range for the light and landscape here. Best wishes for your project. I'll be in the audience when it's done.

Thanks John! We will shoot this on Arri Alexa or a possibility of Black Magic Production camera 4K that is all kitted out. They should be hitting the streets in a couple of months. This story calls for some BIG landscape visuals. That 14-bit RAW is certainly something!

L.A. Casting Network doesn't make you pay if you have an agent. I based here in Austin and all the agents down here require there actors to sign up because the majority casting directors use it, but it's free for talent with representation.

LA Casting is not a casting agency. It is merely a website that posts your information and photos and gives you access to casting notices form casting directors who post their notices on the same website. Mostly for commercials but they have a variety of roles. (Btw casting directors don't like to be called 'casting agents' or 'casting agencies') It's true that if you have representation than you don' t have to pay the monthly fee on lacasting (or you pay a reduced fee) but I find it to be totally worth it if you want to start booking work on your own.

Never give money up front ever. If it's legit they wouldn't ask.

L.A. Casting is the primary website used for commercial casting by both agents and casting people- if you have a commercial agent you shouldn't have to pay for anything but your profile on the site- the primary costs are adding photos and reels. If you want to do commercials in LA you do need to be on there. The other casting site for commercials that has become popular in the last year or two is Casting Frontier which also requires you to pay to put up photos etc. But getting a good commercial agent is really the first, best step. You're right to be wary of anyone who wants money up front. I should add that for theatrical work (which in LA confusingly means film and TV) you'll need a profile on the Actors Access website, again the costs are less if you have an agent but you pay for photos and reels. Hope that helps.
