SOCCERROCK
By Kristopher Robin Klassen

GENRE: Action
LOGLINE:

A retired pro soccer player from the United States makes a comeback and joins forces with a famous rock band to help the British Secret Service arrange a concert to capture a terrorist cell.

SYNOPSIS:

The world's most popular sport is soccer. More countries are registered with soccer's governing body, FIFA (Federation International Football Association), than in the United Nations.

From the slums of Argentina, to the sub zero temperatures in Siberia, someone is playing soccer as you read this. Since the days of Elvis Presley, to the sold out stadiums featuring Metallica, rock & roll music is a global phenomenon.

When you combine these two genres, the results are electric and this is truly an original concept.

Almost every soccer movie ever made involves kids and cute animals, and is usually a G-RATED affair. Every other sport has films of a more adult nature. Hockey has "SLAP SHOT", baseball has "MAJOR LEAGUE", football has "THE LONGEST YARD", and golf has "TIN CUP", just to name a few examples. Where is the great soccer movie for adults?

The screenplay has been written, registered with WGA and ready for release.

The Sydney Roos. The very mention of the name struck fear into the hearts of football clubs across the world. Kris Sanderson had played on professional soccer teams for twelve years in the States. He had left the sport behind him and started a new chapter in his life, but the British Secret Service had other ideas. A large money offer was made, a proposal like none other. They would transport him to Australia and resurrect his playing career with the legendary Sydney Roos.

Their target would be Anton Hassler and the Freedom Brigade. A series of bombings had left the Brits frustrated and desperate, and they would use Kris as bait in a last ditch effort to capture the most elusive terrorist cell they've ever encountered. The attacks by the German renegades seemed random but there was a dark secret which only they and the British Secret Service knew about. They had to be stopped and no expense would be spared. Kris will again cross paths with Dead Egypt; the world's most notorious heavy metal band. His past with them included a passionate love affair with Ty, the beautiful lead singer who was a woman men would die for. Eighty thousand fans will fill Sydney Memorial Stadium in Australia for a night never to be forgotten. Sanderson will lead the Sydney Roos in an important league match followed by the reunion concert of Dead Egypt, a soccerrock extravaganza that would be talked about for generations. With his life in danger and pressure coming from all sides, he reaches down and finds an inner strength he didn't know he possessed. A devious plan with eccentric detail will allow Kris to infiltrate the terrorist organization. The only problem, once he's in, can he ever get out?

The marketing appeal is obvious and far reaching. From Europe to South America, the passion of soccer and music fans cannot be denied. This film will sell tickets all over the world. It's time to give this great sport a new level of respect in the United States. Having a soccer movie thriller is a start.

Using my experiences as a twelve year professional player, a sports writer for two newspapers and a backstage roadie for bands, SOCCERROCK is filled with anecdotes and reality. As long as people are still rocking out around the world, SOCCERROCK can become a cult classic and also appeal to a mainstream audience.
