Film and Television Production
I produced the independent feature film, AFTER FREEDOM, written and directed by Vahé Babaian. Winner of Audience Favorite, MethodFest Film Festival.
I was the director and supervising producer of the PBS series FUTURES WITH JAIME ESCALANTE. Shot at more than 400 locations, and in Mr. Escalante’s classroom at Garfield High in East Los Angeles. (Escalante was portrayed by Edward James Olmos in the Warner Bros. film STAND AND DELIVER.)
I served as a cinematographer and actor for Orson Welles’ last film, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND.
I served as a cinematographer for Peter Bogdanovich’s documentary, DIRECTED BY JOHN FORD.
I directed the television special about Marilyn Monroe’s death, THE MARILYN FILES, hosted by Bill Bixby, presented on Metromedia by Fries Productions.
I directed the home video about Pete Rose’s baseball career, REACH FOR THE SKY.
I directed the television program BABE RUTH--THE MAN AND THE MYTH, for Fries Productions.

The Peabody Award for Broadcasting, supervising producer and director for FUTURES WITH JAIME ESCALANTE. This PBS series has been broadcast regularly since the early 1990s, and has been seen by more than 130 million people.
An independent feature film I produced, AFTER FREEDOM, was shown in numerous festivals, including Montreal and MethodFest (Audience Favorite Award).
An independent feature film I produced, PEP SQUAD, was shown in numerous festivals, including Seattle, Fantasporto, Stockholm, Raindance.
A documentary film I directed and photographed, INSIDE OUT, about the Texas Department of Corrections, was shown at numerous festivals, including San Sebastian, Bilbao and Melbourne.
My first documentary, CHARLES LLOYD--JOURNEY WITHIN, about the great jazz saxophonist, was shown at the New York Film Festival, and was reviewed by Variety as “...perhaps the finest film ever made about a jazz musician.”
