Sarah Fischer grew up in a small, rural, Illinois town, where everyone knew everyone and the most popular club in high school was the Future Farmers of America. Fischer knew early that such a town would not hold her imagination, and so she set off to explore the world, from Costa Rica to Wales, trying to figure out where she was going and what to do when she got there.

Perpetually caught between a history she won't let define her and a future she can't anticipate, Fischer writes about individuals who struggle with the impact of the past and the influence of the uncertain future — as they learn to deal with that dichotomy.

Fischer has worked in production and development at OddLot Entertainment, HeyDay Films, the Kennedy/Marshall Company, and USA Network. Currently, Fischer is the creative director for imperson, a company that works in narrative AI, with studios such as Lionsgate, Disney, Universal, and Paramount.

A semifinalist for NBCUniversal's Emerging Writers fellowship and Final Draft's Big Break contest, Fischer was a finalist for the Sundance/Sloan fellowship in both 2015, 2016, and 2017. She also wrote the film adaptation for the Image Comics graphic novel series Revival.

We, the Band (2015)
Television (Comedy) Second Unit Director or Assistant Director We, The Band is a situational comedy about the trials of being young, ambitious, other and trying to make it. The characters in We, The Band, led by the rebellious Kayla, are diverse across races and sexualities, and trying to reconcile their identities with their art, all while in pursuit of show-biz success. Each episode we'll follow Kayla as she moves to South Philly and tries to navigate the murky waters of being a black girl in the white-boy dominated rock scene. Meanwhile, Tripp, a sleazy opportunist and one of Kayla's roommates, is focused on the South Philly Talent showcase, a beacon of hope for mainstream success. His determination to use the roommates' diversity to get in, whether it involves caricature or not, is a season arc.
