I was cast into a role in June, so now I am just waiting for my filming dates to come up.
I have a dream that I will be the first Somali to win an Oscar
And you should put your passion and soul into making that dream happen. We all have dreams, but can only make them come true by acting on them.
You just made it a goal by writing this down...Now get it done! Good luck!
"Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare." I don't know who said that, but as long as you plan out how you're going to make it a reality, with getting a really big role of a lifetime, it'll happen. Go for it.
"You really out don johnsoned Don Johnson on that key change."
No.
No it's not... the key is that the actor delivers it properly with a change in tone or pitch between the similar words.
I agree. I had no problem saying it.

I do not really have any acting experience, other than a few classes in college, but have always wanted to give it a shot. My interest begin like 5 years ago or so, when progressive insurance was looking for an assistant for Flo. I have always been told I am funny, and should have had a career in comedy, so I will see what happens in this area. I am passionate about music, and if given an opportunity, I would really love to either write, or somehow participate in a musical like "Mama Mia, or other productions, based on Abba.
Welcome to Stage 32, James!
My name is James, and my screen name is Jimmy Joe. I am fairly new to the entertainment industry, but was always told that I should be a comedian. I have aa passion for music and film, and am really interested in writing a screenplay, or theater production called "The Dancing Queen", sinceI am a big Abba fan, and loved "Mama Mia."
Welcome, James!
Greetings, James. I think you'll find the community stimulating and upbeat.
Hi all name is James, but go by Jimmy, and my stge and scrre name is Jimmy Joe. I am new to this forum, and just thought I would say hi. I have been wanting to get into the industry for about a year now, and have really been interested in doing a project about dancing based oiff the songs of Abba, and more specifically the song "The Dancing Queen."
This is a video for a commercial that i did for my cleaning company Western Cleaning and restoration LLC. It was shot in January 2016

What people should you meet? How would you meet them? What studios or agencies are most likely to recruit newbies? I'm asking all these questions for the ones who think they are good enough and want to try their hand. I hope this can be an open discussion because I know there isn't one true right answer.
Since the topic is acting, are there actors out there that are willing to get experience with a new producer/writer/director for little or no pay? I believe someone had mentioned local college theatre and such. Are there any more suggestions?

Expand commentIf you're just getting started and need the experience, look for 48 hour film challenges, student films, and local indie films. As Jody said, look on Craigslist under gigs - down in the lower right hand corner. Also keep asking here on Stage 32, and looking for opportunities here. Join Facebook movie groups in your area. Be sure they're filmmaking groups, and not film fan groups. Join Acting groups as well. Look for groups on LinkedIn and Meetup. Check with your local colleges, and ask about parts in live theater as well as film, TV, and other video work. There is also local community theater. I started out in film on 48 hour film challenges.
I swas invited for an audition by featherless productions. They actually specifically for new talent
