About Michael

Michael D. Coffey was born in Ulysses, Kansas and grew up mostly there before living in Amarillo, Texas during high school and college. He is a graduate of Amarillo College, where he earned a Microcomputer Specialist Associate degree and a graduate of West Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in computer information systems. He worked full-time for the City of Lawrence, Kansas for 21 years, 13 of which were for the Fire Medical Department as their Systems Analyst/computer support technician.

At Amarillo College, where he worked part-time for two years in the writing lab, his classes included a news gathering and writing class, two English composition classes and creative writing. At the University of Kansas he took dramatic screenwriting twice because he liked it. He has written three feature-length screenplays, three short stories and two children’s stories.
Michael has invested in three feature films, and he is credited as an Associate Producer for the feature film, "Nailbiter". His first speaking part is in the feature film, “The Sublime and Beautiful”, filmed in Lawrence, Kansas. Currently he is producing his screenplay, “Triumph”, a teen sports-drama starring RJ Mitte (aka Walt Jr. in “Breaking Bad”) with a cast of other Hollywood actors and a Hollywood director. Twenty days of the movie have been shot and six or seven shooting days remain until final wrap.

One of his goals is to work in the film and TV industry as a writer, producer, casting director and director and be a part of making high-quality films, documentaries and TV media.

Michael also enjoys marketing, and with that knowledge and skill, he is interested in all aspects of marketing, including advertising, copy editing, creating, developing and writing. He loves brainstorming ideas, creating and working with others to achieve a common goal. He also loves a challenge.

Michael’s hobbies include: hiking, practicing Tae Chi, and weight lifting.
