I have now finished my third year at Keele University and graduate next month; I studied Film and Philosophy. I work hard gaining as much knowledge and experience as possible with the aim of joining a production company to get more ‘real world’ experience. My passion is film with a desire for continuous learning.
For the last four years I have written a blog www.Filmbuffer.com, offering weekly film reviews. This, along with my studies, has allowed me to develop my understanding of themes, components and stylistic choices in film.
My blog received positive reviews and was adopted by my University magazine two years ago. I have just been appointed the editor for TV & Film for the magazine and will lead on new projects and ideas.
I am, in regard to film, an insatiable learner, absorbing knowledge from interviews and podcasts and film extra features with directors discussing why they choose the directions they did.
Significantly, I feel, I am dyslexic. This may have previously hindered my progression but overwhelmingly it has resulted in a sharp focus on excellence and striving to achieve my goals – I do understand the difficulty of breaking into the film world but also misquote – “ if not me – who?”
