A female NOAA scientist creates alternative weaponry and an inventive stratagem to fight a war against an ancient alien underwater race, bent on destroying humankind.
SYNOPSIS:
After several maritime disappearances, NOAA scientist Dana Anders volunteers (to the disappointment of her boyfriend, David) to investigate and find out if they are weather related. She determines that ancient humanoid creatures, living in the seas and responding to global threats of ecological devastation, have declared war on humankind. After a futile attempt to convince her boss and the military, she recruits a small group to help her construct a plan for defeating the invading “Aqualien” force. As the “Aqualiens” rise up and attack from the ocean depths, military forces around the world meet them… with little success. The military’s conventional weapons are no match for the “Aqualiens” armored bodies, lethal claws and specialized weapons of their own.
Facing annihilation, the military has no option but to listen to Dana and her group. They begin to employ alternative weaponry, along with a way to communicate with the “Worker” class of the “Aqualiens.” The plan is to persuade them to turn on their evil “Soldier” faction. At the same time, Dana receives word that her nearby parents are under attack. Dana, along with David, arrive just in time to save her parents, but it comes at a cost. As David saves Dana from a creature, David is killed in the process. For the rest of the world, however, the plan proves to be globally successful. In the end, the “Soldier” faction is eliminated and the “Worker” class is allowed to return to the oceans. But the story isn’t over, as an undersea drone spots something unsettling in the ocean’s depths.
