Saquan Lewis is the new black writer who dares to explore common issues, challenges, and circumstances confronting many young black men in America. In his assessment, the current status of life for many black men is chaotic---a reflection of society's inability to effect substantial, long lasting, positive change for this population.
Specifically, Saquan examines his own personal journey from family, educational, economic, and gang related situations, through incarceration in the federal prison system, to life as a published author, counselor, and educator. His life experiences also include youth sports, high school football, graduation, and amateur boxing.
Lewis firmly believes that black men have the power within themselves to create their own positive reality. Writing has empowered him to create his own reality, which fulfills his heart's desire. "Writing is therapy for me. It gives me comfort."
Saquan Lewis challenges his readers to overcome popular false, negative stereotypes. He encourages his audience to develop innovative approaches to life situations. Lewis currently resides in Liverpool, New York with his inspirational partner, and young son, who will be raised in a nontraditional way, to push success to new heights.
