About Martin

Martin Munyua is an award-winning director (SIGNIS Awards at the ZIFF Festival of the Dhow Countries 2006) and director of photography.

Martin Munyua has nearly 20 years experience in film and TV both as a cinematographer and director for commercials, feature films, dramas and music videos. Adapting skills learned from top directors and cinematographers such as Bernardo Bertolucci (Last Tango in Paris), Anthony Minghela (The Talented Mr. Ripley) and Remi Adefarasin (Elizabeth) among others, Martin has over the years perfected his combination of lighting techniques as well as directing.

A graduate of Istituto di stato per la cinematografia e per la televisione “R. Rossellini” in Rome, Martin has experience working with most 35mm and 16mm film camera systems, RED, HD and digital camera experience, as well as the complete range of lighting equipment and tools.

Martin is fluent in English, Italian, Bulgarian and Swahili. Is comfortable working on dramas, commercials, docudramas and documentaries. Is well traveled.
