THE DREAM CRYSTAL
By Matthew I. Schmidt

GENRE: Family, Fantasy
LOGLINE: An insecure kid is given a magical crystal that brings the super powers he posses in his dreams into the real world. Unfortunately it also brings the monster from his nightmares.

SYNOPSIS:

In the vein of E.T. and Stranger Things; The Dream Crystal is a kid-centric, science fiction, fantasy film. The Dream Crystal follows Ethan, an insecure, socially awkward, picked-on boy who is consistently tormented in his sleep by the nightmare monster - The Deimos. Wanting to quiet his son’s dreams, Ethan’s father gives him a crystal that helped stop his own nightmares as a child. His father believes the crystal to be nothing more than a trinket to make his son feel safe while he sleeps. What his father doesn’t know, is that it does so much more. Forged by the god of dreams - Morpheus, the crystal gives Ethan extraordinary abilities to fight off The Deimos in the dream world. But his dream powers begin to manifest while he’s awake. Ethan can now do things other kids could only dream of, seemingly solving his social standing and confidence problems. However no gift is without it’s price, and as Ethan’s encounters new problems, his nightmares return, bringing The Deimos into the real world as well. It is now up to Ethan to stop The Deimos and send him back to the dream world before he destroys his town and hurts the ones he loves. The Dream Crystal draws inspiration from Spielberg style wonderment and magic. It utilizes classic, universal themes of fear, courage and wish fulfillment, to present a family friendly fantasy for multigenerational moviegoers.
