About Kirkland

Hey everyone. I'm a 26 year old filmmaker from Nashville, TN currently living in Crestview, Florida. I work full time as an auditor for the Air Force, but my true passion is filmmaking. With inspiration from Christopher Nolan's "Following," and Robert Rodriguez's "El Mariachi," and "Rebel without a Crew" I decided to pursue my long held dream of making movies. I used my savings to buy a DSLR camera, lighting, sound, and editing equipment and started producing, directing, and writing my own short films in 2016. To date I have directed 2 narrative short films and edited 1 short documentary. The first short film I did titled "Dead Run," is a zombie themed speculative commercial I created using the T-Mobile brand. Next I edited a short documentary for the STEMM Robotics team at Okaloosa STEMM Academy for entry into a nationwide robot contest. In 2017, I directed a short horror film titled "The Closet" about a young woman who realizes she is not alone in her apartment and her closet holds a dark secret. Currently, I am in the process of writing my next short film, a thriller, "The Blood of the Bride," in hopes of directing it later this year or early next year.

I have experience with Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Audition. I have my own equipment that includes a NIkon D3200 DSLR camera, Tascam recorder, Rode video mic, lights, tripod, and camera slider, that I can use for freelance projects. I am a hard working individual and am dedicated to learning as much as I can about the filmmaking process and hope to one day direct, produce, and write a low budget feature film.
