About Marcus

Originally from Yorkshire, England, I presently live on the West Coast of the US. I started my career in the UK as a theatre director directing classical 16th /17th century plays in the London Fringe to 'sold out' audiences of 10 people (or often as not, one man and a dog) before starting to adapt novels for the stage while working in theatres with more numerous and comfier seats, which were actually screwed to the floor.

Adapting novels for the stage got me turned onto scriptwriting and then TV Drama writing. I presently am a writer on the BBC drama series ‘Doctors’, and I have written for BBC TV's ‘EastEnders’. I also work as a Story and Field Producer in non scripted TV, and I return to directing theatre - my first love - whenever I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in earning any money.
The spec TV pilot I am focusing on at present is 'HER MAJESTY'S SPYMISTRESS', a sixteenth century spy drama with a badass female protagonist inspired by my love for that period from directing theatre. I am also trying to turn the story into a novel.
