  • Nights in Rodanthe

    Nights in Rodanthe (2008)
Film by George C. Wolfe (Drama and Romance) Executive Producer Adrienne Willis, a woman with her life in chaos, retreats to the tiny coastal town of Rodanthe, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, to tend to a friend's inn for the weekend. Here she hopes to find the tranquility she so desperately needs to rethink the conflicts surrounding her -- a wayward husband who has asked to come home, and a teen-aged daughter who resents her every decision. Almost as soon as Adrienne gets to Rodanthe, a major storm is forecast and a guest named Dr. Paul Flanner arrive. The only guest at the inn, Flanner is not on a weekend escape but rather is there to face his own crisis of conscience. Now, with the storm closing in, the two turn to each other for comfort and, in one magical weekend, set in motion a life-changing romance that will resonate throughout the rest of their lives. • North Country

    North Country (2005)
Film by Niki Caro (Drama) Producer 1989. Josey Aimes takes her two kids, Sammy and Karen, and leaves her abusive husband Wayne, to return to her northern Minnesota home town. On a chance meeting with her old friend Glory Dodge who works as a driver and union rep at the mine operated by Pearson Taconite and Steel, Josey decides to work at the mine as well, work that is dominated by men in number and in tone. She does so to be able to stand on her own two feet for the first time in her life, something she probably could not have done if she remained in a job washing hair at a beauty salon. Working at the mine does not sit well with her father, Hank Aimes, who also works at the mine and who, like the other male workers, believes she is taking a job away from a man. Hank has believed that all Josey's problems are of her own doing, ever since she, unmarried, had Sammy while she was still in high school. Josey has always stated that she does not know who Sammy's biological father is, which fosters Hank's attitude about her. ... Written by Huggo

  • Every Twenty One Seconds

    Every Twenty One Seconds (2005)
Film by Laura D. Napier (Documentary) Producer Each person sees through eyes that know there is a world which is more stable, more concrete, one in which the air is not so thick, a world that is gentler with its time, patience, and movement. But the eight people in this film, eight of the 5.3 million living with brain injury in the U.S., do not live in that world. They live in a world that is random and, often, unforgiving. A world where the sidewalk moves and colors dance. A world where light is not from the grace above but a painful reminder that they have forgotten their sunglasses. A world where a grocery store is hell. But- their world also carries a reborn heaven in each breath. It's simplicity is the greatest gift given to them: the sunset, a jog in the hill, cool air, homemade soup, a fire, their lover's hands on their neck. The quiet of mid-day alone. This is the world of brain injury. And every twenty-one seconds another person joins them. Written by Poetry & Pictures Inc.
