I am a writer and producer shooting a four minute short/scene from narrative feature script. Casting is driving me crazy - because while I'm not willing to substitute talent for tastemakers, I need actors not adverse to a little self promotion as we raise the funds for the feature. Anyone know of an affordable casting director here in LA? I need solid actors, one female and one male, between the ages of 35 - 45 who can create on-screen chemistry (though there is NO nudity or sex in this scene.) I would love advice and will help each other . Open to all ethnicities.

Hi peeps! My name is Emilia and I moved to Sydney all the way from Italy to study filmmaking. I've been using a lot of websites to advertise my work but because I'm a student and I cant pay people, a lot of them are bailing on me last minute or just dont show up on shooting days, which is very frustrating. Hello fam,

I have a question that may seem odd or maybe I’m just feeling so brand-new. I’m a writer/author and I have not done any acting jobs. I do public speaking quite a bit and have a pretty solid side career from those gigs.

Today marks the seventh or eighth time a producer has been interested in is if my scripts, but insists on me acting in it. I don’t write vehicles for myself, I don’t have headshots, and I am not generally interested in acting. (Yes, I probably would depending on the situation but it is not my goal.)

I always get a weird feeling when I’m offered to act like it’s a joke, not real or something said to butter me up. Nothing really gets moving in each of these scenarios and the projects end up in development hell.

Is this common? Is this one of those situations where that’s what they think writers want to hear?

Who is the best actor, both by career and talent

I was wondering, I am by no means a real actor, but I did some extra work on two Dutch movies and a serie. I am sadly not credited on IMDB. So my question is if extras can credit themselves to the projects they've worked on? Would being part of IMDBPro help?
