By Simon Hartwell

GENRE: Action, Family
LOGLINE:

Quentin James and his friends head to Japan to take part in the first Global War Games only to discover a terrorist base deep within an abandoned mine.

SYNOPSIS:

Quentin’s Second Year is officially underway, their first class, Tech Workshop. Charged with coming up with new ideas for field equipment, Quentin and his friends huddle up and brainstorm ideas. Quentin only has one, which he reveals once the others run out, much to Vicky’s frustration.

The rogue agency I.O.N has grown encouraging defections from many of the Governments Agencies. In a desperate move, the Government rounds up the kids of their key personal, including several Edgewater students, including Vicky.

Unwin mobilises his special unit of Shadow Warriors and, together with Quentin, infiltrate the camp and rescue the kids, including Vicky and Zackery.

The Headmaster announces the first Global War Games and his intention of sending a team to represent Britain. Not even making the team can help mend Quentin’s broken heart as Vicky has left the group to date Zackery, the talk of the school and dubbed “Vickery.”

Japan. The British Team arrives too much fanfare and are enjoying the experience. Even Quentin, who attracts the attention of Linda from the German Team, encouraging him to “let loose” on the dance floor. Oblivious to her teenage romantic advances, Quentin leaves the dance floor in search of his friends.

The Team from I.O.N, Shocked the entire reception quietens as the team enters, dressed in their full battle armour before leaving, having made their mark. Quentin and his team mates race after them, wanting a confrontation, only to meet the Chinese Team intent on the same thing. Accusing each other of being Team I.O.N, the actual team reveal themselves, lobbing paint grenades, covering both teams in paint. Quentin however is reeling over the fact Vicky was part of Team I.O.N.

The British Team have their first game. Death Match. Entering the Battlefield, Quentin notices their camp contains a map of the battlefield, using it to set a trap for the opposition. Game Won, they move to their next game, Capture the Flag. An intense fire fight that sees Quentin hit with paint balls and after a dramatic death, the British win their second game and the match!

Buoyed by their win, Quentin and his friends run into Linda outside the dressing rooms. Quentin defends his friends Bluey and Yi-Pa for being gay, declaring not only he was gay but so was Clive, much to his surprise. Linda, whilst believing Clive could be gay, refuses to believe Quentin and kisses him for the longest time. Breathless, Quentin is stunned. ‘She put her tongue in my mouth?’

Lunch, the kids devour their food, Mel refuses them permission to leave the table as eating together was their only time to talk. Silence. Until Quentin breaks the silence asking, ‘Why is it called French Kissing?’ Unwin shooed the kids away as he tends to Mel’s chocking fit. Not needing to be asked twice, they make a hasty escape.

Quentin sees Vicky disappear through a door and follows her, only to find himself in a girls’ changing room. Embarrassed, he faces a wall. Mirror. He turns again. Mirror. Oh, come on! Choosing to look at the floor, he hears Vicky and another I.O.N girl talking about going down a mine to see their parents.

Making a hasty exit, he meets the others at the Arena to watch the paintball games, and plan on following Vicky and discover the I.O.N Base.

The following morning, the British Team have the second match. Man Down. Quentin is kidnapped and placed within the battlefield. His team has to rescue him from Team I.O.N! A thrilling and tense match sees the British Team the victor.

That evening with Unwin providing a distraction, Quentin, Clive and Bluey meet with the Chinese Team and go into the mine. They spilt, the Chinese Team using an old ore cart, the British Team using the tunnels. Not without incident. They make it to the lowest level only to find I.O.N are bugging out. The mine is flooding and set to blow and the kids realise they have to escape, only to discover cells filled with prisoners, the defectors, locked up. Quentin and Bluey release them, the last, Quentin’s Parents, Mark and Jenny James. Coming under fire, Quentin and Bluey abandon the James momentarily, fully intending to return, only Bob “The Bobby” London and Cris “The Mule” Bucharest tell Quentin to “Get Out” promising to release the James. Quentin returns to his friends when a huge explosion rocks the mine. Water pours down from above. Quentin leads his friends to the last open tunnel when he hears Vicky call his name. The kids. The kids are in separate cells.

Quickly Bluey picks the lock, releasing Vicky, Zackery once again and many others, ushering them to the tunnel and safety. Another violent shake blocks the tunnel, separating Quentin, Clive and the Chinese team from the others. They are trapped.

One way out, a desperate one. They have to deeper underground, sliding down an opening into an underground river. Safe for the moment, they gather on a stone ledge. Another violent shake sends one of the Chinese Team into the water. Quentin does not hesitate, throwing himself in, grabbing hold before she is swept away.

Discovering the latest shake had blocked their only escape, they make a fire and wait for death.

The sounds of outboard motors rouse them. Unwin’s Shadow Team members, Harry, Larry, and Gary to the rescue. Using the boats, they get around the cave-in and enter the tunnels. Quentin, using his “weird” sense of direction, guides them out, only to face an even great danger, the wrath of their guardians, in Quentin and his friend’s case, MEL!

The Final Match, Team Britain vs Team China. Two-Two, the match is tied. One last game - Capture the Flag. In an act of friendship. Both teams meet in the middle of the battlefield and exchange flags.

EPILOGUE

One element remains unfulfilled, that of taking Quentin. his son.
