In this business, many of us have to wear different hats to make a living and stay creative. I guess I'm a playwright first. I love dialogue. I love hearing the sound, rhythm and pacing of crisp dialogue delivered by seasoned actors. It's music. Nothing is better than that.
Several of my plays have been successfully produced in Los Angeles and and later in New York. Many I have directed and some I have not. I believe if the writing is solid and casting is on point then you will most likely have a compelling and emotionally packed night of entertainment.
For six seasons I’ve been a resident playwright/director at the Network Theatre Company’s New Short Play Festival (Barrow Group & American Theatre of Actors). I wrote and directed six plays during this time which were nominated for over a dozen awards and won best actor/actress six times. I won best director for my play “The Match,” in 2019.
I also love to adapt my plays to film and I've written multiple film scripts that originated on-stage. Best part of that is I don't have to fight with the author when I want to make changes:)
I recently wrote, produced and directed two films, “Three Kings” in 2018 and “Borderline” in 2020. "Three Kings" won best actress award at "The NYC Network Film Festival" in 2019. I recently finished a feature script based on the "Three Kings" short film and I am seeking collaboration and financing for this venture.
When I'm not busy with this, I work as a casting director in NYC. This helps to finance my writing/directing addiction and keeps me current with my connections to amazing talent in NYC and LA.
Cheers and keep fighting the good fight!
