Film by Jerome Pikwane (Horror and Thriller) Director and writer Set in a seven-esque apocalyptic Johannesburg, Busi, a destitute young woman psychologically crippled by a violent past, lands a job as a graveyard shift cleaner at a rundown hospital in the heart of Johannesburg, a foreboding and alien city for someone that grew up in a rural Kzn sugarcane farming community. Desperate to gain some control over her life and generate enough money to save her sister from the dysfunctional family she escaped, Busi determinedly suffers the predatory attention of a corrupt hospital foreman. It’s during the night shift that Busi develops a friendship with an enigmatic orphan girl who is seemingly plagued by a Tokolosh. As their bond strengthens, Busi becomes aware that the girl is in incredible danger. Forcing herself to overcome her own inner demons to save Gracie from the abusive monster lurking in the hospital, real or imagined, she helps the girl escape. It’s however not long before Busi has to question the wisdom of inviting the child, and whatever is haunting her, into her life.
