Julia Campanelli is Sundance Scholar, filmmaker, and Founder of Shelter Film, a New York-based independent production company dedicated to changing the narrative in front of and behind the camera by creating films by and about women and other under-represented groups

Shelter Film's “116”, which Julia wrote, directed and produced, has screened in over 60 festivals world-wide, won 28 awards, and premieres Amazon Prime Video Spring 2020. Her feature and pilot screenplay “The Paisley Witch Trial” has collectively won 10 Best Screenplay awards including Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival, Fade In Awards, was short-listed by THE BLACK LIST, is #1 on The RED LIST, Finalist in Cinereach Film Fund, and SemiFinalist Slamdance and Atlanta Film Festival.

Founder of Shelter Theatre Group NYC, a non-profit company dedicated to equality on stage through inclusion. With Shelter Theatre Julia produced and directed 13 stage productions in NYC, including the critically acclaimed Macbeth on LES.

As an actress, Julia stars in NBCUniversal’s Dementia 13, Shelter Film's 116, Kill the Monsters, and One Life To Live. She played Hecate in the OBIE winner Sleep No More NY.
