About Gaby

Growing up in upstate New York, Gaby Allen always had a love for the moving image, which she cultivated with a film studies minor at Cedar Crest College where she majored in computer information systems since she embraced the technical aspect of the industry as well.

After college, Gaby lived overseas for a year and upon her return, she started at the bottom of the production totem pole as an intern or production assistant on feature films that were filming in the Capital Region.

As more productions came to the area, Gaby eventually became recognized as the local Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) and was offered a board position with Upstate Women in Film & Television (UPWIFT) after a few short years.

In fall 2013, Gaby moved to New York City and began working in post production as an Avid assistant editor. Starting out as a night loader, she eventually switched to the day shift. Along the way, she also acquired skills in project managing, syncing and grouping clips, exporting to spec, stringing out and conforming sequences, and preparing for the online.

Today, Gaby is a proud member of the Post NY Alliance and New York Women in Film and Television in addition to serving as treasurer for the Blue Collar Post Collective. She also continues to serve on UPWIFT’s board.
