About Gaby

Growing up in upstate New York, Gaby Allen always had a love for the moving image, which she cultivated with a film studies minor at Cedar Crest College where she majored in computer information systems since she embraced the technical aspect of the industry as well.

After college, Gaby lived overseas for a year and upon her return, she started at the bottom of the production totem pole as an intern or production assistant on feature films that were filming in the Capital Region.

As more productions came to the area, Gaby eventually became recognized as the local Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) and was offered a board position with Upstate Women in Film & Television (UPWIFT) after a few short years.

In fall 2013, Gaby moved to New York City and began working in post production as an Avid assistant editor. Starting out as a night loader, she eventually switched to the day shift. Along the way, she also acquired skills in project managing, syncing and grouping clips, exporting to spec, stringing out and conforming sequences, and preparing for the online.

Today, Gaby is a proud member of the Post NY Alliance and New York Women in Film and Television in addition to serving as treasurer for the Blue Collar Post Collective. She also continues to serve on UPWIFT’s board.

  • Broke

    Broke (2012)
Film (Documentary) Miscellaneous Crew According to a 2009 Sports Illustrated article, 60 percent of NBA players are broke within five years of retirement. For 78 percent of NFL players, it takes only three years. Sucked into bad investments, stalked by freeloaders, saddled with medical problems, and naturally prone to showing off, most pro athletes get shocked by harsh economic realities after years of living the high life. Drawing surprisingly vulnerable confessions from retired stars like Jamal Mashburn, Bernie Kosar, and Andre Rison, as well as Marvin Miller, the former executive director of the MLB Players Association, this fascinating documentary digs into the psychology of men whose competitive nature carries them to victory on the field and ruin off it. TFF Alum Billy Corben (Cocaine Cowboys) paints a complex picture of the many forces that drain athletes' bank accounts, placing some of the blame on the culture at large while still holding these giants accountable for their own hubris. • 70's Fever

    70's Fever (2008)
TV Movie (Documentary) Miscellaneous Crew If the 1960s represented peace, love, and the "We Generation", then the 1970s came to represent the pleasure seeking excesses of the "Me Generation." The 1970s were a decade when cocaine was king, a President fell in disgrace, homegrown terrorist groups prowled the streets and all-night parties raged in Studio 54 - all while neighborhoods burned and the Son of Sam hunted. And yet it was a time of renewed liberties, and huge technological leaps when two kids named Steve built a machine in their Silicon Valley garage that changed the world. Using rare footage and a period soundtrack, this special deconstructs the 1970s, from Watergate to Studio 54. It evokes nostalgia and challenges it, exploring the dark side of the decade's cult leaders, sexual liberation and disco scene. Written by History Channel
