Oliver Sims
Biography

Oliver Sims is a native of California, born in Sacramento. He was a talented athlete in high school earning a football scholarship to the University of San Francisco. His passion for film and television led him to transfer to San Francisco State University. There he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Broadcasting. He lived in the San Francisco bay area for most of his adult life, now residing in Los Angeles, California with his wife.

Oliver has developed a diverse work portfolio as an executive with several of the most affluent and prominent entertainment companies in the industry. He established over the years a strong reputation as a senior-level sales and marketing dignitary with over seventeen years in television/cable affiliate sales and distribution experience. He created and implemented successful sales and strategic marketing plans for American Movie Classics (AMC), Bravo Network, Black Entertainment Television (BET), Independent Film Channel (IFC), Syfy, USA, MSNBC and CNBC.

Mr. Sims retired from NBC Universal Cable Networks, as Director of Television Distribution to fulfill his passion for writing novels and screenplays. He wrote and published his fictional crime novel, Death is not always silent, from the Sicardo Files. The saga is the first of a trilogy from the Sicardo Files series which he created. The screenplay adaptation of the novel is a work in progress.

Oliver broke international barriers as Co-Executive Producer for the musical documentary, “Armstrong in Havana” at the 19th Annual International Havana Jazz Festival, in Havana, Cuba. He secured authorization from the United States Treasury Department to document Grammy Award-winning jazz musician Nicholas Payton with Donald Harrison, Wendell Brunious, and Christian Scott, their musical collaboration and performances in Cuba. The documentary featured these multitalented artists participation in the Centennial Celebration of Legendary American Artist Louis Armstrong.
