  • The REEF Series

    The REEF Series (2004)
by Liquid Motion Film / Guy Chaumette (Documentary) Producer/UW CInematographer Over 4 years in the making, this multi award-winning series comprises 3 dramatically original adventure stories, the very best of underwater cinematography and a truly innovative portrayal of marine life. With a groundbreaking understanding of marine life behaviour, the award-winning Filmmakers set out to live 'alongside' the animals', capture rare, intimate footage and share astonishing new insights about their daily lives. In a boldly new approach, the films introduce completely unheard of interaction between man and marine life. Powerful personification of the animals allows the viewer to relate to them, seeing them, for the first time , as they really are. From exhilarating encounters to extraordinary relationships; Fish communication to feelings and emotion; the film reveals marine animals' incredible intelligence, exposes their astounding abilities, unique characters and startling aspects of their daily lives. Documenting spectacular adventure, dramatic storytelling and breathtaking exploration, this is the coral reef, as never seen before. Provocatively extending all boundaries of ‘traditional underwater film’, it's a ture eye-opener, guaranteed to reach the hearts of all.

  • Water Colours

    Water Colours
Documentary by Liquid Motion Film/Guy Chaumette Producer/CInematographer WATER COLOURS Provocative and stimulating, ‘Water Colours’ provides a pioneering breakthrough in underwater communication and a landmark step towards improving our understanding in this field. Capturing images entirely new to science, the series was filmed in the colourful paradise of the remote South Pacific islands and features compelling testimony from leading scientists, uncovering the truth about exactly how fish see colours - and each other - in their world. Throughout the series, we encounter enigmatic creatures with vision beyond anything we can perceive, including secret wavelengths, eye metamorphosis, polarization and UV. How fish see and what they see brings the overwhelming revelation that in their world, human beings are virtually ‘blind’. Colourful patterns are analyzed, vivid displays deciphered and complex behaviours understood. For the first time on film, we also discover how fluorescence plays a key role in the lives of many species of fish. The series conclusively proves that marine animals manipulate colours to transform the way they look, switching colours and patterns to express emotion and mood and altering position and behaviour, depending on what they want to say. The overwhelming conclusion is that colour is the prime cryptic language of the fish, used for attracting mates, avoiding predation and fooling potential prey. From the producers of the multi award-winning series ‘The Reef’, ‘Water Colours’ is a timely and unique portrayal of the fascinating and virtually unknown world of underwater colour communication. • City Under The Sea

    City Under The Sea
by Liquid Motion Film/Guy Chaumette Producer/UW CInematographer It is the busiest, most densely populated city on earth. Real estate is scarce. Predators roam. Con artists rule the streets. There is a complete lack of law and order. Families cohabit, living in colonies, packed tightly together. Squatters and Poachers are commonplace. The battle for food is a fact of daily life. The city should be in chaos. Yet a strange harmony reigns this lawless land. From the acclaimed, award-winning Producers of 'The Reef' and 'Water Colours', comes another extraordinary story. An epic exploration of an underwater city, A story of love and honour, dedication and defeat. Of team efforts, unwritten codes of conduct and a communal commitment to peacefully co-exist. Using highly specialised macro cinematography and rebreather equipment, the Filmmakers capture remarkable relationships of those so tiny they are lost and overlooked. From the penthouse sharks to microscopic seahorses in the basement, landlord to tenant, architect to street sweeper, each resident has a significance, and role in holding up the cities core. Filmed over 3 years on remote location, this astonishing one off special is an eye opener, and a quest for the secret of peace, in a city where there should be chaos.
