Nick Brooks

Nick Brooks is an author, educator and filmmaker born and raised in Washington, DC. Nick graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and George Mason University with a Master’s degree in Education.

While teaching, Nick discovered his passion for mentorship and character development. Merging this passion with his love for creativity and art, Nick created the children’s book series, The Adventures of Yani.

After launching The Adventures of Yani Nick began writing and producing short films. As a writer and director, Nick strives to create powerful images that not only entertain, but also inspire, and educate. Nick’s most recent film, “Hoop Dreamin'”, shows the journey of a young man’s determination and sacrifice to actualize his dreams. Hoop Dreamin’ has been recognized by many high profile film festivals across the world, including placing third in the Forbes 30 under 30 film fest.

Nick is currently a M.F.A candidate at the prestigious University of Southern California and is a George Lucas Scholar.
