A MILE IN HIS SOUL
By Morley Shulman

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE:

A conniving ad executive, who moonlights as a homeless person, suddenly loses everything and is forced to live on the streets for real.

SYNOPSIS:

Malcolm Horsley seems to have life figured out: a steady job, a comfortable apartment, and a secret side hustle that no one would ever suspect — at night he disguises himself as a homeless man and panhandles for extra cash. For Malcolm, it’s part revenge, part obsession: his father abandoned the family years ago to live on the streets, and Malcolm has been searching for him ever since.

But when a chain of bad decisions blows up in his face — literally — Malcolm loses his job, his apartment, and every dollar he’s squirreled away. Overnight, the man who pretended to be homeless becomes the real thing.

Forced to survive among the very people he mocked, Malcolm encounters the dangers, absurdities, and unexpected humanity of street life. His only ally is Steffi, a sharp‑witted woman he believes is a seasoned street veteran — unaware she’s actually an undercover reporter writing an exposé on homelessness. As she teaches him how to navigate this new world, she realizes Malcolm’s story is bigger than her assignment.

With Steffi pushing him forward, Malcolm begins a reluctant, often hilarious quest to track down the father who vanished from his life. Along the way, he confronts the lies he tells others, the lies he tells himself, and the possibility of becoming someone better than the man he’s been pretending to be.

A Mile in His Soul is a comedic journey about identity, redemption, and the unexpected ways we find connection — even when we’ve hit rock bottom.
