MURDER ON THANKSGIVING

Murder on Thanksgiving: is a murder investigation that spanned two years.  Authored by the Detective that doggedly pursued the killer. Thanksgiving evening November 23, 1967, a seventeen-year-old girl was raped and murdered. On November 23, 1969, the killer was captured and charged.    

SYNOPSIS:

Thanksgiving, November 23, 1967, is the first Thanksgiving for a seventeen-year-old high school senior since her parents divorced. That evening after the holiday meal she decides to take a short walk to calm her emotions. The following morning a man walking his dog in a wooded area discovers her body. Her lifeless body revealed she had been sexually assaulted in every way possible. A brick next to the body was the murder weapon. Detective Don Shaw working undercover is monitoring the girl's wake and funeral. At the end of the first evening just before the funeral home closed he enters the funeral parlor and kneels before an all-white casket. The coffin holds a beautiful teenage girl, her blond hair gives a halo of radiance to a youthful face that now will never age. Thus begins Shaw’s obsession and the two-year pursuit of Cheryl Bailey’s killer.
