About Heidi

Heidi has been a part of the professional theatre scene in Atlanta for twenty-four years as an actress, director, teacher, playwright, costume designer and producer. Recently, Heidi signed on with The People Store for representation, in Atlanta, to explore the possibilities of on-camera, print and voice-over work. It's been about fifteen years since she has pursued commercial work, but she is excited about the possibilities!

Heidi feels fortunate to have worked with many of Atlanta’s theatres, including the Alliance, the Horizon, Theatrical Outfit, Georgia Shakespeare, the Atlanta Shakespeare Tavern, Theatre in the Square, Actor’s Express, 7 Stages, the Aurora, Dad’s Garage, JewishTheatre of the South, and the Atlanta Lyric Theatre. Outside of Atlanta, Heidi has worked for the Hippodrome State Theatre and the Oasis Theatre Project in Florida, the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, the Gainesville Theatre Alliance, the University of Georgia, and the Lagrange Lyric Theatre. She was founding Producing Artistic Director of Soul-stice Repertory for nine years, presenting over 30 theatrical classics in conjunction with 7 Stages. Heidi has directed seven Suzi Bass Award (Atlanta's version of the Tonys) nominated shows and won Best Direction of a Musical in 2011 for her work on Avenue Q at the Horizon Theare Company. This is Heidi’s 26th year teaching theatre and public speaking. She has taught for Florida State University, Berry College, Georgia Perimeter College, Kennesaw State University, Actor’s Express, the Alliance, the Shakespeare Tavern, and St. Martin’s Episcopal School. Heidi is a member of the American Alliance for Theatre in Education, the Educational Theatre Association, the National Storytelling Network, and the Southern Order of Storytellers. She serves as the artistic director of the St. Martin’s World Storytelling Celebration, which annually, for the last seven years, has brought together over 100 student, faculty, and professional storytellers to share folktales from around the world. Heidi is married to actor/choreographer/director Jeff McKerley, and they have two daughters, Hannah Rose and Arden.
