Sherrill Schmidt is an award winning screenwriter who revels in asking intriguing questions like, “Why do some people find a great partner and the rest of us don’t?” and “How do you get someone to move forward when all they want to do is hide under a desk?” In this way, her storytelling is about exploring an idea then growing it in the most fertile ground she can find. Regardless of genre, her stories are infused with comedy or romance and move along at a fast pace with the help of snappy dialogue.
She made her first foray into the production side of filmmaking in 2018 working as a Script Supervisor in two short films. She got her undergrad in Engineering at Michigan State University then switched gears to screenwriting when she moved to Chicago and began training at University of Chicago’s Writer’s Studio.
