MR. FADED GLORY

MR. FADED GLORY
By Craig Anderson

GENRE: Drama, Music
LOGLINE:

A washed-up 80s rock singer struggles to find relevance and redemption when a young guitarist reignites his passion for music, but as he confronts his past failures and missed opportunities, he must decide if one last song can save him—or if it's time to fade away for good.

SYNOPSIS:

Gabriel “Tuffy” Thompson once had a shot at rock ‘n’ roll glory, fronting Blade, a band that never quite broke through on the Sunset Strip in the early 80’s hair metal scene. Now 63, he’s a burnt-out line cook, haunted by the ghosts of his past and the music career that slipped through his fingers. His days blend together in a haze of greasy kitchens, cheap whiskey, and the faint echo of what could have been.

When Austin Parker, a hungry young guitarist looking to break into the scene, recognizes Tuffy from his playing days, he convinces him to sing with his band. The night is a disaster—Tuffy’s voice is shot, his nerves wrecked—but the fire that’s been buried deep inside him flickers back to life.

As Tuffy wrestles with his own demons, he reconnects with Kim, the woman he once loved, who has built a stable life as an accountant and playing blues gigs on weekends. She represents the path he never took—the one where music didn’t destroy everything in its wake. But Kim has moved on, and Tuffy finds himself spiraling, torn between chasing the past and accepting his place in the present.

A drunken night at the Rainbow with an old rocker friend reminds him of everything he lost, and a chance encounter with a group of young, fearless musicians forces him to confront his deepest fear: that he has nothing left to give. Determined to prove—if only to himself—that he still belongs, Tuffy sits down to write the song that has eluded him his entire life.

It’s his last shot at redemption. But will it be enough to bring him peace, or will he go out the way so many rock ‘n’ roll casualties before him have?
