James Travis Lamont Cooper was born in Bethesda, Maryland December 30,1975. His early theatrical training began as he grew up in Norfolk, Virginia and Washington D.C. His professional theater credits cover a full range of theatrical genres include featured technician, actor, singer and dancer at Tidewater Community College, Virginia Stage Company, Founders Inn Dinner Theater, Jumpin' Jack Touring Company, Juneteenth Festival Company, Stage Norfolk ,Roper Theatre ,Virginia Arts Festival and The Generic Theatre. As an educator of the arts with a degree in Early Childhood Education and technical theatre James has become an accomplished master puppeteer, James can be found with his company TLC Puppets teaching technical theatre and puppeteering workshops at “The Venue on 35th street” his intimate 50 seat black box theater . He also can be seen performing And teaching with Arts 4 Learning Young Audiences of Virginia and Hampton, Virginia based company Rainbow Puppet Productions across the United States. In addition he is a NCCPT personal trainer. Also James conditions and teaches Afro-Brazilian Martial Art of Capoeira. All of this while maintaining his work as a Cultural Arts Specialist for the city of Newport News.
