By Manoj Tiwari

GENRE: Mystery, Thriller / Suspense
LOGLINE:

Two troubled doppelgängers living in the same city and having the same names, chase down each other to swap fortunes without knowing if the other is real or just an illusion.

SYNOPSIS:

John Hammonds, probably the only white American taxi driver in NYC, has two dreams: to have a taxi of his own and get settled with Kelly, his live-in partner, and her daughter Amanda. Kelly, a convenience store cashier, has her share of difficulties maintaining her job. John discusses his plans and dreams with his all-weather friend George, a souvenir seller. Things change when John spots his rich lookalike in the Financial District.

Another John Hammonds, a stockbroker, is living in the same city and struggling to make money from his investments. His lean phase is about to ruin his professional and personal life.

Similar to his look-alike, the stockbroker John spots taxi driver John and sees him as a bad omen. Intrigued, he tries all possible ways to find and meet the taxi driver John. The stockbroker John approaches the Taxi drivers’ association to obtain his contact details while the taxi driver John goes to NYSE posing as a tourist to meet the stockbroker John. Both come disappointed. They call each other but do not connect. Stockbroker John gets the live location of the taxi and chases him down unsuccessfully. On the other hand, taxi driver John visits the office of stockbroker John only to find him out of office.

As things deteriorate for both Johns, their intentions turn evil, and the efforts to find the other John intensify. Taxi driver John wants to kidnap the other John and make some quick money. The stockbroker John wants to elope after killing the taxi driver John so that he can get rid of all troubles.

The chase gets to their nerves since they are unable to catch hold of the other John. Despite getting constant advice from their psychiatrist and friends to stop it and get to the real world, the insanity attains new heights. Soon they lose the difference between what is real and what is not. They must forget about finding the other John and face the reality. But for that to happen they first need to come out of their virtual hallucinating worlds.

The final trick comes in form of waking up from their dreams at the same time. And they do. But is the reality more comforting than the dream?
