SYNOPSIS:
George Washington is elected the commander of the newly formed Continental Army while the governor of New York, William Tryon, is away in Britain.
Upon his return and on the ship, The Duchess of Gordon, Tryon begins his plot to infiltrate Washington’s army and turn his soldiers against him and the Continental Congress.
Having much success convincing Washington’s soldiers to turn against him, Governor Tryon’s plot takes shape. He is able to enlist some of Washington’s elite guards.
A winning point in the war is when Colonial Knox traveled to fort Ticonderoga to retrieve cannons and gun powder. These were used to chase two hundred British ships out of Boston harbor.
Many men from up and down the East coast are convinced to join the British army and join the conspiracy.
As the plot to assassinate Washington unravels, Washington is shocked to find who has turned against him.
A turning point in the war is when the conspirators are discovered and one of them is hanged in the town square where every soldier is ordered to attend. Several others are brought to trial and jailed.
The story goes on to show the greatness of George Washington and the true patriots who formed this country.
