About Claire

Claire Tailyour was born in South Africa but raised in England. Claire has an MFA from USC's School of Cinematic Arts, Los Angeles. She has directed hundreds of hours of television including Jimmy McGovern's Moving On, BAFTA nominated Hollyoaks and BBC/PBS/AFI documentaries including Life, Death and Cheerleading, The Forgotten Girls of Dhaka and The Surrogates Club.

She is a BAFTA Crew member, a Sundance International Scriptwriter Semi-finalist, and a Semi-finalist for The Academy Awards' Nicholl Fellowship. Claire wrote the Harper Collins web series The Adventures of MacKenzie Blue. Whilst living in LA she assisted writer Mark Goffman (West Wing, Law and Order, Sleepy Hollow).

Claire was a Producer at the BBC for many years before leaving in 2013 to set up her own production company Slackwire Films. Her first commission was funded as part of a scheme at Sundance London; a steampunk sci-fi Ruby's Skin starring John Bowe (The Hour, Silent Witness, Coronation Street) and Olivia Cooke (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Bates Motel). She went on to write and direct the Directors UK/Arri Alexa short Belittled starring Kiran Sonia Sawar (Black Mirror) and Raffiella Chapman (Tim Burton's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children).

Her short films have played at numerous international BAFTA/Oscar recognized film festivals including Sundance London, AFI, Underwire. Her music video for Low Stars' Just Around the Corner, screening at the Sundance Film Festival and Tribeca.

Claire is currently seeking financing for MOTHER WILD her debut feature.
