About Brooke

Brooke Wentz is an award-winning music supervisor and rights executive working in the television, cable, film and recording industries. She founded Seven Seas Music, an international music discovery site, and The Rights Workshop, a music supervision and licensing company. She has music supervised hundreds of independent and documentary films, as well as numerous TV shows--Game Changers, Last Chance U, Minding the Gap, Bill Cunningham New York, Dolores, Meet the Patels, etc. She then ultimately married her passion for world music with edge-cutting technology to found Seven Seas Music, a web-based platform where media professionals can listen to and license authentic music from over 150 countries which have been featured in productions including “Parts Unknown,” “Criminal Minds,” “VICE,” “Legions,” “Snowfall,” “Homeland,” and “Altered Carbon.”

Wentz was one of the earliest Music Directors for ESPN and rights consultant to TechTV, after working for years as a radio host, world music producer and critic. She is the author of Hey! That’s My Music: Music Supervision, Licensing and Content Acquisition and Music Rights Unveiled, and received a Billboard Award for the top-selling world music recording of the decade. She has also served as Manager of A&R Administration at Arista Records and Music Supervisor for New York City’s Times Square Millennium Celebration.

Brooke received a Billboard Award for her work as a record producer of world music. Her discography includes "Global Meditation," "Global Celebration," "Voices of Forgotten Worlds," "Africa: Never Stand Still," and the three-CD set "Global Divas" produced for the 1996 Third World Conference on Women in Beijing. She is currently writing & compiling a compendium of interviews conducted in 1980s with new music composers and musicians, and producing a feature documentary about the songwriter Janis Ian.
